Can we use just one tool, or all of them?
Either. Start with whatever hurts most, like Volunteers or Grants, and add the rest whenever you’re ready. Many of your numbers flow between them, so you stop retyping the same facts.
Can we bring our data with us?
Yes. Bring your people over from any spreadsheet. You’ll see what happens to every row before anything is saved, and you can undo the whole import in one click right after it runs. Gifts come in from a Donorbox, Givebutter or Stripe export, or any spreadsheet with one gift per row. And your data is always yours to take with you.
Do we have to be a 501(c)(3)?
No. Ember is for nonprofits and the people starting them: grassroots groups, all-volunteer teams, fiscally sponsored projects, and founders still getting set up. You don’t need any paperwork to start.
